Girl Boss- Thoughts & Collection Unveiled
Share
While the term “girl boss” is self-explanatory and holds so much meaning in many girls/ women’s lives, it is something that is only surface level.
I wanted to write this article with much joy and fervour as we are introducing our new collection that screams bold with a capital B and one that represents empowerment with a solid E. However, in the light of latest incident in my country (India) where a woman was brutally assaulted and murdered (to put it mildly because I don’t want to delve into the animality of the situation, this not being the forum), I feel “girl boss” has no meaning in the lives of menfolk.
Marches, protests, social media posts during such times are simply a by-product of the gruesome incident and women in general hold ZERO importance for them. Just to sound pseudo-intellectual or partially informed, these posts have no meaning.
Meaning holds true when people in general treat girls as goddesses as believed in our religion/ culture; where girls are regarded as kanjaks or lakshmi (wealth).
Even if I put aside gender, is basic respect/ humanity too much to ask ?
I believe not and I am so glad this collection was named “girl boss” because along with “sustainable fashion” what we truly imbibe as a brand is the “celebration of women”, “celebration of girl child”, “celebration of girls” who know how to be a boss ! Girls who carry their confidence on their shoulders and feel empowered with a brand like ours- where we actually care; care for the planet, care for the people who inhabit this planet.
So without much jargon on why “girl boss” is our favourite launch of the year, let us simply embody the spirit of “girl boss” where girls are safe, not scared.
And let us hope and pray that things will change and “girl boss” will become a reality and girls will be given the respect they deserve and more.
